Counselling & Sport Psychology - Edmonton

There’s more to you than, how you’re doing.

You can be doing well and not feel well. Have ambition and no clear direction. Love your sport and hate what it’s asking of you.

I’m Evan. I offer counselling and sport psychology support for the parts of life that don’t fit into a quick answer.

MEET EVAN

What’s beneath the surface matters the most.

Think of a volcano: lava beneath the surface and pressure building within it. As that pressure increases, the lava rises. If the pressure becomes too great, the volcano erupts.

Sometimes, our experience can feel similar. We carry emotions and experiences while school, sport, work, family, relationships, and everything else add pressure. Without enough room to recover or support to manage those demands, we can reach a point where we feel overwhelmed, or “erupt.”

That eruption might look like shutting down, disrupted sleep, or struggling to perform. For some, mounting pressure can also contribute to anxiety, depression, or persistent stress.

I’m Evan, a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Edmonton. My approach is to understand YOUR volcano, not just the eruption. Together, we’ll explore what you’re carrying, recognise when pressure is building, and find practical ways to respond. That includes making room for what helps you recover, what you enjoy, and what makes you feel like yourself.

Our conversations can be thoughtful without feeling formal, and meaningful without always feeling heavy. We can talk about difficult things and still laugh, get curious, and enjoy our time together. My aim is for our work to become something you look forward to, not another demand in an already busy week.

You don’t need to wait for an eruption to make time for yourself.

Before we meet.

A few practical things, before the first conversation

A Provisional Psychologist is someone who has completed all the necessary academic qualifications and is now in the process of gaining practical experience under supervision to become fully registered. This means I am currently being supervised by a fully licensed psychologist as I complete the required hours, exams and additional training.

I’ll start by introducing myself and sharing a little about how I work, so you can get to know the person sitting across from you.

Then, we’ll go through informed consent, the foundation of our work together. We’ll talk about what therapy involves, confidentiality and its limits, and your rights and choices throughout the process. There’ll be time to ask questions and make sure you’re comfortable moving forward.

From there, we’ll explore what’s brought you in and what you’d like to get out of our time together. You don’t need a prepared explanation or your whole story neatly laid out. We can take our time, ask questions, and find a starting point together.

I work with teens and adults, ages 15 to around 30. Our conversations can focus on a specific concern, a recurring pattern, or simply feeling unlike yourself. You don’t need to know exactly what you would liek to focus on  to get started. We’ll work together to understand what’s happening and what you’d like to be different.

Absolutely no. Sport and performance are part of my work, but you don’t need to be an athlete, or have performance-related concerns to reach out. There’s room to talk about what’s happening at school, at work, in relationships, or within yourself.

Start with what's on your mind!
